INTERVIEW WITH SOSO NEBIERIDZE, THE MOST FAMOUS TRAVEL BLOGGER & YOUTUBER FROM GEORGIA

Tbilisi, Georgia

Georgia is a small country with remarkable economic growth. Before the pandemic, the small country's economy was growing strongly, and the travel industry was also experiencing breathtaking growth rates. 2020 was a difficult year for global tourism, also for Georgia. Things were already looking up again in 2021. And for the summer of 2023, the country in the South Caucasus expects a record number of visitors, because at ITB 2023, Georgia will be presented as a partner country with a correspondingly large media and trade fair presence. High time to take a closer look at the destination with mountains of up to 5200m and its people.

SOSO IS ONE OF THE COUNTRY'S BEST-KNOWN NEW MEDIA PROTAGONISTS

An interview with Soso Nebieridze, Georgia's most famous travel blogger & Youtuber is quite exciting . Soso has travelled to well over 60 countries in his lifetime and is considered the best known social media blogger in the small – but beautiful – mountainous country on the Black Sea coast, Georgia. Soso became famous with his brand ‚Soso Around the World' and is heading towards 200k followers on Instagram:

SOSO COMES ACROSS AS VERY PERSONABLE AND PERFECTLY EMBODIES THE HOSPITALITY OF GEORGIANS

Soso reports virtually from all over the world. He is currently in the Maldives with his very good German-speaking wife and sends us a sunny greeting to Georgia and Europe. He primarily reports on his travel experiences for Georgians all over the world. I had already been in contact with Soso for a few weeks and finally it worked out. We arranged to meet for an interview, and even in German. Here are his recommendations regarding the cultural riches of Georgia.
The smart traveler Soso reports from all over the world, so to speak. He is currently on the Maldives with his wife and sends us sunny greetings to Georgia and Europe. We arranged to meet for an interview, and even in German. Here are his recommendations regarding the cultural riches of Georgia.

The multifaceted country in the southern Caucasus is really extremely exciting and a paradise for friends of alpine mountains, endemic and rare animals and plants and alpine sports. Since the Black Sea coast is particularly inviting for water sports in summer, everyone really gets their money's worth here.

INTERVIEW WITH SOSO NEBIERIDZE, THE MOST FAMOUS TRAVEL BLOGGER & YOUTUBER FROM GEORGIA

1.
Oliver Gaebe, www.bellacoola.de
„Soso, tell us about yourself and your life!"

Soso Nebieridze, https://www.instagram.com/soso_aroundtheworld/ :
„Hello to Europe! My name is Soso Nebieridze, I am a travel blogger and Youtuber from Georgia.  For years I have been travelling the world and creating content for my followers under the label Soso Around the World…"

2.
Oliver:
„Thank you Soso for taking the time for our interview about Georgia and the future of this country in tourism. My target group lives in the German speaking markets, Switzerland, Austria, Luxembourg and Germany. An interesting market, around 100,000,000 Europeans speak German. Currently, Europeans travel a lot to Spain, Egypt, Turkey or Italy, but why not to Georgia in the future? Why should Europeans visit Georgia? What makes the country so special and particular, Soso?"

Soso:
„I am from Georgia and I love my homeland. Nevertheless, I can answer these questions clearly and quite objectively: I have visited exactly 60 countries in the world and it is precisely from this experience that I can assure that Georgia possesses everything that makes a tourist marvel.  We have a rich history, people have been living in today's Georgia for thousands of years. Our culture is also rich, our tasty cuisine is also special, Georgia is considered the „inventor" of wine and with 8000 years of wine culture we can offer the best wines. And last but not least, we have incredibly beautiful natural landscapes. In our small country you can discover everything: mountains, lakes, rivers, glacier mountains and gorges, the sea and even a desert. Georgian people are very warm and hospitable, which is undoubtedly a great advantage for travelling the country." He adds: „Visit us sometime…, you will be surprised…"

3.
Oliver:
„What are your top five sights in Georgia and why?"

Soso:
„Oliver, it will be hard for me to name only five because I love soooo many places in Georgia. Maybe I would pick Svaneti, mountainous Adjara, and Yasbegi because the mountain-clad regions in Georgia are undoubtedly beautiful. I also really enjoyed seeing the ‚Black Rock Lake', for which it was worth hiking up these unique mountains for three days. Besides, Tusheti, where I myself want to go this year, is said to be a true fairy tale."

4.
Oliver:
„Sounds exciting! You are a very experienced traveller Soso, is there any country in the world you would compare Georgia to … ?"

Soso:
„Scenically, I could perhaps compare Georgia to many other countries. However, what makes us unique and distinguishes us from other countries with similar landscapes is our thousands of years of history, traditions and cultural-historical sights. All this gives our landscape that certain something and makes the country extraordinary. For me, Georgia is incomparable!"

5.
Oliver:
„Let's take a look at Georgian hotels: which hotels are ‚your' FIVE best hotels in Georgia and why?
Soso:
„There are a lot of good hotels here and they are getting more and more. But since it's my taste, I would choose a nice little wooden hut surrounded by fields and forests or on a mountain with unforgettable views and scenery. There are many such cabins in Georgia, especially in Radja and in Upper Adjara. However, when it comes to large luxury hotels and resorts, there are many international and local hotels here that meet every standard and criteria. From simple to top luxury, Georgia has set itself up excellently. In Tbilisi, I like small boutique hotels, but meetings tend to take place in bigger hotels."

6.
Oliver:
„Soso, how do you see Georgia and tourism in 2030?"

Soso:
„If everything goes well and continues like this, I am sure that Georgia will become one of the most popular destinations for tourists. We have very great potential, most of which is unfortunately not being used. But I am sure that this will change with time. The world will find out at the latest at this year's ITB in Berlin what a unique historical pearl is hidden in the Caucasus Mountains called Georgia.

Nowadays, travelling has also become very popular among the population. Europeans have been travelling around the world for decades, why not to Georgia? People are looking for something new, something special and that's what Georgia can offer them. I suspect that in 2030 many more people will visit our small and extraordinary country."
7.
Oliver:
„Soso, thank you very much for your time and to you and your wife continued exciting adventures around the world… "

SUMMARY BY TRAVEL JOURNALIST OLIVER GAEBE ON RECOMMENDABLE HOTELS IN TBILISI:

There is sooooo much to see. If you're in the old town you're close to the cultural highlights. Even the Venetian Marco Polo reported that in Georgia there was a „splendid city called Tiflissi, surrounded by suburbs and castles and fortresses". In the 13th century, the city was devastated by the Khorezmians. From 1386 to 1402, Tbilisi belonged to Timur's Central Asian empire. After that, the rulers of the country changed several times, and the most diverse influences can be seen everywhere in the capital of Georgia. Come to the heart of the southern Caucasus, come to Tbilisi…

COSY BOUTIQUE HOTEL:

For those who prefer small cosy hotels with good comfort, we recommend the House Hotel in the old town of Tbilisi. The boutique hotel with 17 rooms has a very nice terrace. All individually decorated artistically designed rooms have a large balcony. Many works of art enhance the stay. The hotel has its own restaurant, the Blue Fox, and a large terrace. The food is first class.

EXAMPLE FOR A LUXURY HOTEL:

For those who do not want to do without all the comforts of a luxury hotel, the Radisson Blu Hotel in Tbilisi is recommended. On the 18th and 19th floors there is a panoramic SPA with an infinity pool and fantastic massage rooms. There is also a panoramic sauna and a fitness centre with an exciting view of the metropolis. The Radisson Blu breakfast buffet is definitely the best in the city and the two restaurants UMAMI and FILINI in the hotel are very popular with local and international guests…
